Comprehensive Inspection & Report Equals Peace of MindWe started our house search in Alberta a year ago. At that time, we were two provinces away and were relying on general information for houses we were considering. Not knowing the market, we had the local realtor provide video tours of potential houses and once we zeroed in on one we sought out a local house inspector.A search on Google brought up the name Border Home Inspections. We phoned and spoke with the inspector Aulden Reid and agreed an inspection date which we subsequently had to cancel after we viewed the house firsthand and didn’t get a good vibe for the place. Mr. Reid was understanding and accepted that we had to cancel his services. Over the course of the ensuing year, we checked with him as to his availability for various properties but with the volatility of house sales in Alberta, we were never able to finalize an OTP and so did not require an inspection.Fast forward a year and we found the ideal house and this time secured our position of first offer and made home inspection a condition of the purchase. Without fail, we contacted Border Home Inspections and arranged for an inspection which Mr. Reid was able to accommodate on short notice for us. His report was thorough and well documented with video, pictures and professional insight. Based on the quality of his inspection to confirm the visual view of the home, we completed our purchase and ended up with the perfect house for us and the assurance that the house had passed standard home inspection with no obvious or hidden issues. An added bonus was the fact the Mr. Reid is WETT certified and was able to inspect and pass the in situ fireplace. Another extra was the septic inspection via camera to ascertain the sewer lines had not been compromised by tree roots.I have no hesitation in heartily recommending Border Home Inspections and Mr. Reid as a genuine and competent resource for anyone seeking peace of mind in purchasing a new home knowing they have taken reasonable precautions to preclude nasty surprises from unseen problems. Aulden was excellent. I bought a house in Alberta while living in BC, and he handled all the coordination for entering the property with my realtor, which made the entire process incredibly easy.I’ve read many home inspection reports over the years, but I’ve never received anything as thorough as this. Aulden made 20–40 detailed videos walking me through everything he was seeing and explaining his findings clearly. He also gave practical suggestions on what I should consider fixing right away and what could reasonably be left for later.Extremely thorough, knowledgeable, and helpful throughout the entire process.
