We all like the looks of nice plants trees and vines on our properties. Well I often warn homeowners about the negative effects of these nice plants. Vines in particular can be a problem to the home. This week I came across an example of vines that hadgrown up under the soffit and across the attic for thirty feet to the attic hatch and back inside the home. It is amazing how well they grow. They will also grow under siding and trim and push it off the home. The other issue with vines is the potential for moss and mildue growth due to trapped moisture. I recommend moving the vines to an area that will not cause house problems later on. A freestanding structure usually works well.
